The Traveler’s Story
Genshin Impact is a free-to-play game featuring cross save, which allows players to resume their progress across hardware platforms such as PlayStation and PC. Currently this option is only available.
The Traveler is an interstellar being who descended on Teyvat five hundred years ago and has been traveling between planets since then for an unknown amount of time. Although youthful appearing, their true age remains unknown. Paimon frequently denies them alcohol when they try to drink; suggesting they act as an influence to sober up other characters in Teyvat.
While they are the strongest unit in the game, they also often come off as arrogant and rude. When Dainsleif attempts to manipulate them or the Fatui are mentioned during trials for Lyney and Lynette they become suspicious; but eventually become friends with Fatui Harbinger helping her defect from Abyss Order. The Seven Nations of Teyvat
The Seven Nations of Teyvat are seven fictional countries located within Teyvat that are each led by an Archon and god. Traveler encounters them during their search for twin siblings; becoming involved with politics of each one along the way.
Mondstadt is your first nation of exploration; this wind-powered nation that values freedom. Led by Anemo Archon Barbatos, who rarely interacts with his people.
Liyue, one of Teyvat’s seven nations, is a water-driven nation focused on art and culture. Ruled by Hydro Archon Zhongli who holds the oldest Archon rank.
miHoYo announced plans to release four additional regions from The Seven Nations of Teyvat over time – Fontaine, Sumeru, Natlan and Snezhnaya- one at a time starting with Fontaine in 2024. Each will offer its own story and characters for players to discover.
The Abyss Order
The Abyss Order is one of the main antagonist forces in Genshin Impact. Led by one of Traveler’s sibling, who had to separate before leaving Teyvat due to its true nature. Their leader can control intense Abyssal energy while their lower grade monsters also do so as can higher rank heroes who possess archon-esque powers over elemental Ley Lines similar to Archons.
The Abyss Order operates in complete secrecy, even within its ranks, due to their constant hunt by Dainsleif who seeks to stop them from fulfilling their grandiose plans of destroying Khaenri’ah Kingdom and harvesting immortality curses. He can break their plans by interfering or, in extreme cases, tracking and killing them.
Dainsleif
The Bough Keeper, an unknown wanderer from Khaenri’ah’s royal guards before its destruction 500 years ago. Now wandering Teyvat keeping tabs on Abyss Order members. Though its relationship to Traveler remains unknown, some scholars speculate he might have an association with them and/or have knowledge about who their sibling might be; additionally he appears older than Archons but with similar longevity.
He narrates both the Teyvat Storyline Preview and all Collected Miscellany videos (except Kaeya’s which is voiced by Alice), as well as showing a connection with Albedo due to their respective use of Khemia art forms.
He’s one of the most beloved characters in-game due to his formidable combat capabilities and longevity – something Furina de Fontaine, another future playable Archon, cannot do.
